It is learned that Shengzhou City recently issued the implementation opinions on trialing a 4.5-day flexible work system to promote consumption and stabilize growth. From July 1 to December 31, Shengzhou City encourages all government agencies, social groups, enterprises and institutions in the city to optimize and adjust their work and rest arrangements according to actual conditions and laws, and provide convenient conditions for employees to travel on weekends to promote consumption. While ensuring the normal operation of the unit, employees who have completed their work tasks are encouraged to take a day off on Friday afternoon. Those with special needs can also adjust the two half-day Fridays to the same Friday for rest based on actual conditions.
The implementation opinions propose that the half-day rest time on Friday can be offset by regular overtime hours or annual leave, and each unit is responsible for recording the employees' leave deductions. At the same time, employees who are unable to take a half-day rest on Friday due to work reasons are allowed to take a half-day rest on the next Friday.
"The trial of a 4.5-day flexible work system can, on the one hand, stimulate short-distance tourism and promote regional tourism consumption; on the other hand, by implementing a free and flexible vacation system, it can also relieve employee stress, maintain physical and mental health, and improve work efficiency." said a relevant person in charge of the Shengzhou Municipal Party Committee Office.
To cooperate with the implementation of the new regulations, Shengzhou also advocates that government agencies implement a no-meeting day on Fridays. Except when meetings are required by laws and regulations, superior deployment, or major emergencies, city-wide meetings are generally not organized on Friday afternoons or weekends.
