India may review 275 Chinese apps again. What’s going on? Why India is reviewing 275 more Chinese apps, including PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Resso

Less than a month after announcing the ban on 59 Chinese mobile apps including TikTok and WeChat, India has come up with new trouble. According to an Indian report on July 27, people familiar with the matter revealed that India will review another 275 Chinese applications (APPs) to determine whether they have any behavior that harms India's national security and infringes on user privacy.

According to the report, according to people familiar with the matter, India has drafted a list of 275 Chinese applications. These applications include: Tencent's game "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" (PubG), Xiaomi's short video application Zili, Alibaba's online shopping application AliExpress, and ByteDance's music streaming application Resso and camera application ULike.

After banning 59 Chinese apps, India will review another 275 Chinese apps, including PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Resso

Commentators said that following India's high-profile ban on 59 Chinese apps last month, this latest move comes at a time of escalating geopolitical tensions between Asia's two giants. India's move shows that the country has stepped up its censorship efforts and more Chinese Internet companies may be banned in the future.
"The government may ban all, some or none of the (apps) on the list," the source said.

A spokesman for India's interior ministry did not respond to a request for comment. However, official sources said a review aimed at identifying more Chinese apps and their funding was underway. “Some of these apps were warned due to security issues, while others were listed for violating data sharing and privacy regulations,” an official explained.

In response to India's frequent violations of market rules and its introduction of a series of discriminatory and unreasonable policies to restrict Chinese companies, Gao Feng, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of China, recently responded that India's practices violated relevant WTO rules and India's commitments in the WTO, and hoped that India would immediately correct the discriminatory practices against China and Chinese companies.
